The Pop Up [Ethical] Sweatshop is designed to help you determine your ethical style. Knowing there are good reasons for each of the bags like saving money, supporting your local economy or giving jobs to women in the developing world is there one bag that represents your ethical style best?
WILBy uses bags as the metaphorical item to practice on - something that can represent our values and carry what is valuable. All bags are available for purchase and consumption in the SHOP
WILBy "factory" bag for $8 made overseas in unknown conditions
WILBy "Made-In-USA" bag for $70 sewn in the garment center in NYC
WILBy "Local" bag made for $75+ sewn by the WILBy resident designer Isabella Scott
WILBy "do-gooder" bag for $45 made in cambodia by former sex traffic victims
WILBy "I don't need another fucking bag" tag. suggested donation of $7 and it is not a bag at all.
WILBy @ FIAF
In March 2014 WILBy did a small version of the Pop Up [Ethical] Sweatshop at the French Institute in NYC. Visitors to the fashion conference passed through the installation to get to the film premier. super good.
Massive thank you to Lili Chopra and the entire FIAF team for their support. woot.
